Blender is a really versatile program. It can even be used as a replacement for image manipulation programs like Photoshop or Krita in some cases, with the added benefit that real and fake 3D can be combined.

- 03:00 Fake 3D by using the radial gradient texture on the text object
- 05:10 Splitting up the text to add the effect to every individual letter
- 07:20 Additional lighting in real 3D using Cycles
The font used in the tutorial is Disco Deck by Iconian Fonts. The idea for this tutorial came upon me when I stumbled across this tutorial on the same effect for Photoshop. I noticed that by using Blender, the effect could be adapted or even improved by combining real 3D and fake 3D. It's up to you now to decide which method works better. But the story does not end here. The original inspiration for this is actually a design by Mario Hugo, making this an excellent example on how ideas can evolve over time. And it does not have to end here - what are you going to do with this effect? Show us in the comments!
